As a Christian, it is my joy to point to Jesus. It is only by His grace that I am here today. In John 7:37 - 38, Jesus says:
'If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink, whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, "Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."'
Jesus says he will give us living water. This living water is the Holy Spirit, in us, once we choose to follow Jesus. The Holy Spirit allows God to change our hearts and minds, to help us overcome our past and walk in His light as new, forgiven creations, and to have meaningful, fruitful lives. It also allows us to share in the joys and sorrows of fellow believers, and to know with certainty that there is life in eternity, with our Savior.
Rivertown Resumes was created to allow me to share the love of Jesus, and to let His living water flow out of my heart, in hopes that other people will reach out to Him for His living water.
In 2021, the communities in Haywood, Jackson, and Bunbcombe counties in Western North Carolina were devastated by torrential flooding from Hurricane Fred. It was a frightening time. Pigeon River flooded and homes or pieces of homes were floating down the river. Businesses were closed to shovel mud and to sanitize after flooding.
I had called Waynesville, NC my home for about two years when Fred hit. I attended The Orchard Church, which deployed small groups to help the communities rebuild. In occasionally joining these groups, I saw firsthand the devastation and heartbreak in these communities.
I loved being a part of the community in Waynesville and learning about the area inspired me to start Western North Carolina Resumes.
The next two years brought numerous changes and opportunities. I met my husband, David, in 2023. We married and relocated to Cincinnati in 2024, along with our cat, Lulu. A mischievous golden retriever puppy named Mabel joined our family in 2025. Cincinnati is truly the "big little town" that we are happy to call home.
Western North Carolina Resumes was rebranded to Rivertown Resumes.
